Lasagna is a classic Italian-American dish that originated in Italy but was popularized in the United States. It's traditionally made with layers of pasta, meat sauce, cheese, and vegetables, baked to perfection. Kim's Lasagna is a delicious version of this dish that has been passed down from generations. It's a family favorite that is perfect for any occasion, from potlucks to holidays. The combination of Italian sausage, ground beef, and three types of tomato products gives the sauce a rich, robust flavor. The ricotta cheese adds creaminess and depth, and the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses provide the ooey-gooey factor that everyone loves.

Instructions

.Allow the sauce to simmer for at least an hour. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
.Preheat your oven to 375°F.
.Mix egg, ricotta cheese, fresh parsley, salt, and nutmeg in a bowl. Set aside.
.Cook lasagna noodles according to the package directions. Drain and rinse in cold water.
.Take a 9x13 inch baking dish and spread a layer of the meat sauce on the bottom.

.Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture on top of the noodles.
.Sprinkle one cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the ricotta cheese mixture.
.Sprinkle 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese on top of the mozzarella cheese.
.Repeat the layers in the same order: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese.
.Finish the lasagna with a final layer of meat sauce, the remaining mozzarella cheese, and remaining grated Parmesan cheese.
.Bake the lasagna for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.
