Bavarian Pretzel Rolls are a popular food in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. They are often served in beer gardens with mustard and cold beer. These rolls have a crisp outer layer and a soft, chewy inside. They’re perfect for sandwiches, burgers, or as a side to soups and stews. The addition of honey gives them a subtle sweetness that makes them even more irresistible. The key to making perfect Bavarian Pretzel Rolls is the boiling process, which gives them their unique texture and flavor.

Instructions

.In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water with honey.
.Combine the flour and salt in another bowl and slowly add it to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
.Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
.Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it to rise for 1 hour.
.Preheat your oven to 425 F.
.Bring 2 quarts of water to a boil in a large pot, and add the baking soda.
.Now divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape them into pretzel rolls.
.Boil each roll for 30 seconds, turning once. Remove from water and place on a baking sheet.
.Brush melted butter onto each roll and sprinkle with salt.
.Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and serve.
