Ingredients

2 lbs lean hamburger
1 cup onion , chopped
8 ounces sauerkraut
8 ounces mushrooms
1 cup mozzarella cheese
1 cup cheddar cheese
8 slices provolone cheese
2 cans crescent rolls

This casserole is a take on the traditional Runza sandwich, which is a popular Nebraska dish made with a savory filling of ground beef, onions, and cabbage, all wrapped in homemade bread. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
2.In a skillet, cook the hamburger and onions over medium heat until browned then drain
3.Add the sauerkraut and mushrooms then cook until the mushrooms are softened
4.Roll out one can of crescent rolls in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, making sure to press perforations together to seal
5.Layer half of the hamburger mixture on top of the crescent rolls
6.Top with 1 cup of mozzarella and 1 cup of cheddar cheese
7.Roll out the second can of crescent rolls and place on top of the cheese layer, pressing perforations together to seal
8.Spread the remaining hamburger mixture on top of the crescent rolls
9.Top with provolone cheese and remaining cheese
10.Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve hot.
