Instructions

1.In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar and yeast. Stir until the yeast is dissolved, then leave the mixture to rest for 5 minutes.
2.In a separate large bowl, whisk the flour, lemon zest, and salt together.
3.Add the butter to the flour mixture and rub the mixture with your fingers until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
4.Whisk in the egg, then the yeast mixture. Mix to combine and form a smooth dough.
5.Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
6.Shape the dough into a ball and leave it to rest in a warm, draft-free place for about 30 minutes until it doubles in size.
7.Preheat the oven to 350°F / 180°C. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/4 inch / 0.5 cm.
8.Use a round 9-inch / 23 cm pie tin or cake tin to cut out a round from the dough. Set aside.
9.Place the tin on the dough and cut a circle around it so that the dough fits the tin perfectly. Save the remaining dough for another use.
10.Brush the dough with melted butter and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
11.Bake the galette for about 25-30 minutes, or until it turns a golden brown color.
12.Sprinkle with additional powdered sugar after removing the galette from the oven. Serve warm or at room temperature.
