Beazer's Baked French Toast is a sweet version of a classic breakfast dish. It's perfect for a special weekend breakfast, holiday brunch, or entertaining guests. Made with thick slices of French bread, a blend of milk, half-and-half, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg, this dish is buttery, rich, and sweet. The dish is prepared the night before baking, giving the bread ample time to absorb and soak up the egg mixture. This overnight rest results in a custardy and soft interior with a slightly crisped exterior. The dish is then topped with a mixture of butter, brown sugar, pecans, corn syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg, creating a sweet and crunchy topping that balances the custard.

Instructions

1.Slice the French bread into 20 pieces, each about 1 inch thick.
2.Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9 by 13-inch flat baking dish in 2 rows, overlapping the slices.
3.In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and beat with a whisk until blended.
4.Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with the milk-egg mixture.
5.Spread Beazer's Topping over the bread and press it down with a spoon.
6.Cover with foil overnight and bake in preheated 350°F oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
7.Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
