1 garlic clove , minced
2 tablespoons butter
2 lbs ground round
6 tablespoons half-and-half
1/4 cup tomato juice
2 eggs

2 packages each frozen puff pastry

1/2 bay leaf
1 pinch thyme
1 can beef broth
3 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions

1.In a large skillet, heat butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic and cook until onions are softened, about 10 minutes.
2.Add ground round, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper, and cook until browned, about 20 minutes.
3.Stir in 6 tablespoons of half-and-half, tomato juice, eggs, breadcrumbs and chopped parsley until fully mixed.
4.On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to 1/4 inch thickness.
5.Add shredded cheddar and steak mixture to the puff pastry, and top with second puff pastry sheet.
6.Preheat oven to 450°F. Brush top with beaten egg.
7.Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
8.In a separate pan, sauté mushrooms and green onions in butter, then add red wine, beef broth, bay leaf, thyme and cornstarch, stirring until well combined.
9.Season with salt and pepper, and bring to a boil.
10.Reduce heat, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until sauce has thickened to desired consistency.
11.Serve the Steak En Croute with the mushroom sauce drizzled over the top.
