1/4 ounce dry yeast ( one envelope )
1/4 cup warm water
4 cups sifted flour , divided
2 tablespoons shortening
1/3 cup boiling water
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 egg , beaten
powdered sugar , sifted

Instructions

7.Place dough in a greased large bowl and cover with a towel. Let dough rise in a warm place for 2 hours.
8.Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or in a large Dutch oven on the stove. Roll the risen dough into 1/4 inch thickness, then cut dough into 2 inch squares.
9.Fry the squares until golden brown and puffy. Drain the doughnuts on a paper towel lined plate and sprinkle powdered sugar on top. Serve warm and enjoy!
