Ingredients

1 ounce butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
12 ounces mushrooms , sliced ( mixture of open and closed cup )
1 garlic clove , crushed
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg , freshly grated
1 1/2 lbs potatoes , peeled
1 lb sweet potato , peeled
1 1/4 cups milk
2 ounces cheddar cheese , grated
Creamy Two Potato and Mushroom Gratin is a rich, comforting, and flavorful dish that is perfect for family dinner. The dish is made using sliced potatoes and sweet potatoes and baked in a mushroom, garlic, and nutmeg flavored creamy sauce. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced mushrooms and cook for 5-6 minutes until they're soft and golden brown. Add crushed garlic, freshly grated nutmeg, and cook for further 1-2 minutes.
3.Slice the peeled potatoes and sweet potatoes in 1/8-inch-thick rounds. In a large baking dish, layer the potato and sweet potato slices, alternating them. Sprinkle freshly grated nutmeg and a few pinches of salt and black pepper over the potatoes. Pour the mushroom-garlic mixture over the potato-sweet potato layer and spread it evenly. Pour milk over the mixture.
4.Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 1 hour. After 30 minutes in the oven, sprinkle grated cheddar cheese over the top. Bake the dish until the potatoes are cooked through and the cheese on top is melted and bubbly.
5.Remove from the oven and allow the gratin to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
