3 scallions , thinly sliced ( white and most of the green parts )

1 1/2 cups thick sheep milk or 1 1/2 cups strained yogurt
1 1/4 cups toasted breadcrumbs
black pepper , freshly ground
2 large eggs , lightly beaten
3 -4 tablespoons milk
1 1/4 cups sesame seeds

Instructions

1.In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
2.Add the olive oil and water, and stir until a dough forms.
3.Knead the dough on a floured surface for a few minutes until smooth.
4.Cover the dough with a towel and let rest for 30 minutes.
5.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
6.In a large bowl, mix together the red onions, scallions, and salt.
7.In a separate bowl, mix together the feta cheese, sheep milk or strained yogurt, breadcrumbs, and black pepper.
8.Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness.
9.Cut the dough into 4-inch circles.
10.Place a heaping tablespoon of the onion mixture in the center of each circle.
11.Add a tablespoon of the feta cheese mixture on top of the onions.
12.Fold one side of the circle over to make a half-moon shape, and press the edges together to seal.
13.In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
14.Brush the egg wash on each kalasouna, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
15.Bake the kalasouna for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
16.Serve warm or at room temperature.
