Ingredients

1 1/2 cups honey
1/2 cup agave nectar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 lb chopped walnuts
6 ounces slivered almonds
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 lb phyllo pastry
1 1/2 cups butter
Baklava is a rich, sweet dessert popular in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries. This version combines a variety of nuts with layers of crispy phyllo pastry, all drizzled with a sweet honey syrup. It's perfect for sharing with friends and family on special occasions or as a sweet after-dinner treat.

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.In a medium saucepan, combine the honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon over medium-high heat.
3.Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4.Remove the mixture from the heat and let cool.
5.In a large bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, slivered almonds, and cinnamon.
6.Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
7.Brush the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish with melted butter.
8.Layer 6 sheets of phyllo pastry in the bottom of the dish, brushing each sheet with butter as you go.
9.Sprinkle the nut mixture on top of the phyllo.
10.Top the nut mixture with another 6 layers of phyllo pastry, brushing each sheet with butter.
11.Cut the baklava into diamond shapes and brush with any remaining butter.
12.Bake the baklava in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
13.Remove the baklava from the oven and pour the honey mixture all over it, making sure to get it into all of the cuts.
14.Allow the baklava to cool completely before serving.
