Ingredients

6 eggs , separated

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
2.Beat the egg yolks with the sugar and salt until light and fluffy.
3.Sift the cornstarch and flour into the egg mixture and fold until just combined.
4.Fold in the grated orange peel.
5.Beat the egg whites until they hold stiff peaks and fold them into the batter.
6.Grease and flour a 9-inch (23-cm) cake pan.
7.Pour the batter into the pan and smooth the top.
8.Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9.While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup
10.In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the water, sugar, cloves, cinnamon, and orange juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, until thickened.
11.Add orange blossom water and let it cool.
12.Using a chopstick or toothpick, poke holes all over the top of the cake.
13.Pour the syrup all over the cake and let it soak in for a few minutes before serving.
14.Slice, serve and enjoy!
