Ingredients

3 cups sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 3/4 cups water
3 cups finely chopped walnuts ( a combo of walnut , & almonds can be used )
1 lb butter , melted
1 teaspoon cinnamon ( or to taste )
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg ( or to taste )
1 box shredded wheat pastry dough , thawed

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2.In a saucepan, combine sugar, lemon juice, and water and bring to a boil.
3.Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the syrup thickens.
4.Add walnuts, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the syrup, stir through and remove from the heat to cool.
5.Brush a baking dish with melted butter.
6.Take a handful of pastry dough and spread it out on a clean surface.
7.Brush with melted butter and spoon a small amount of the filling onto a corner of the pastry.
8.Roll up the corner with the filling and continue to roll the pastry around the filling to form a cylindrical shape.
9.Place the pastry in the buttered dish.
10.Repeat until all the pastry and filling are used, making sure to brush each pastry with melted butter.
11.Bake in the oven for 45 minutes until the pastry turns a golden brown color.
