Ingredients

3/4 cup lukewarm water
1 egg , lightly beaten
1/4 teaspoon white vinegar
2 tablespoons butter , melted
2 1/2 cups bread flour ( all purpose wo n't work )
3/4 teaspoon salt
melted butter
8 -9 apples , peeled and grated i.e . Northern Spy or 8 -9 other large green cooking apples
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3/4 cup golden raisin
1 tablespoon lemon zest
3/4 cup currants
1 cup toasted breadcrumb
5 -6 tablespoons butter , melted
Apple Strudel is a traditional pastry that originated in Austria. It's made by rolling sweetened fruit filling in layers of thin, flaky pastry dough, then baking until golden brown. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2.In a medium bowl, mix together lukewarm water, egg, white vinegar and melted butter.
3.In a large bowl, mix together bread flour and salt. Gradually stir in the wet mixture to form a dough.
4.Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
5.Roll the dough out into a large rectangle.
6.Brush the surface of the dough with melted butter.
7.In a medium bowl, mix together grated apples, sugar, cinnamon, golden raisins, lemon zest, currants and toasted breadcrumb.
8.Spread the apple mixture over the surface of the buttered dough.
9.Roll the dough up tightly and place seam side down into the prepared baking dish.
10.Brush the top of the strudel with melted butter and bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
11.Let the strudel cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
