Ingredients

1 strudel pastry dough ( see my recipe ) or 1 ready-made pastry dough
1 1/2 kg apples
1 lemon ( juice )
60 g raisins ( soaked in rum )
200 g butter , melted
100 g sugar
2 tablespoons sugar
100 g breadcrumbs
1 pinch cinnamon
butter ( for coating )
icing sugar ( for dusting )
1 egg ( for coating )
250 g flour ( preferably pastry flour )
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon oil
2 tablespoons butter , melted for coating
125 ml water , lukewarm
2 egg yolks ( for coating )

Apple Strudel à La Sacher is a traditional Austrian pastry that has gained worldwide popularity. This flaky pastry is typically filled with sweet and tangy baked apples, raisins, and cinnamon, wrapped in buttery pastry and baked to golden perfection. While the strudel dough can be challenging to make, the end result is well worth the effort. Apple Strudel à La Sacher is perfect for special occasions such as dinner parties or family gatherings. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
2.Peel and core the apples, then slice them thinly.
3.Squeeze lemon juice over the sliced apples, then add the raisins, 2 tablespoons sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.
4.In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, oil, and lukewarm water to form the dough. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
5.Brush the melted butter over the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
6.On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a large rectangle, making sure it's thin enough to read a newspaper through it.
7.Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the dough, leaving a 2cm margin around the edges.
8.Arrange the sliced apples on top of the breadcrumbs and roll the dough up tightly.
9.Brush the egg yolks over the strudel and transfer it to a lined baking sheet.
10.Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
11.Allow the strudel to cool for 10 minutes, then dust with icing sugar before serving.
