Ingredients

2 1/4 lbs stewing beef ( any kind )
2 -3 sacher sausages ( optional ) or 4 frankfurters ( optional )
2 1/2 onions , large
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons sweet paprika
1 teaspoon hot paprika
3 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon tomatoes , paste
1 tablespoon marjoram
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon caraway seed , chopped
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon water
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon sugar ( optional )
water ( to cover the meat )
salt
ground pepper
4 eggs
butter ( for frying eggs )
4 pieces gherkins ( pickled )
Fiaker Goulash With Sacher Sausages is a classic Austrian stew that originated in the 19th century when horse-drawn carriages were a popular mode of transportation. It was named after the two-wheeled carriage that used to transport people around Vienna, called the Fiaker. Today, it is a popular winter dish that is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

5.Pour in enough water to cover the meat, bring to boil, and reduce heat to low. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for about 2 1/2 hours or until the beef is tender. If necessary, add more water while cooking.
6.While the goulash is cooking, bring a separate pot of water to boil and add the Sacher sausages. Cook for 5-10 minutes or until they are done.
7.Heat butter in a separate skillet and fry eggs to your liking.
8.Serve Fiaker Goulash hot with Sacher sausages, fried eggs, and pickled gherkins on the side.
