Ingredients

2 lbs lamb ( lamb chops work also ) or 2 lbs mutton ( lamb chops work also )
1 small cabbage
1 teaspoon salt
10 black peppercorns
1 bay leaf
up to 2 cups water
finely chopped parsley
1 cup sour cream ( optional )
Farikal is a classic Norwegian dish that has been enjoyed for generations. Traditionally, it is made with lamb and cabbage, but mutton can also be used. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
2.Slice the cabbage and place it in the bottom of a large baking dish.
3.Cut the lamb or mutton into pieces and place them on top of the cabbage.

5.Pour in enough water to cover the meat and vegetables.
6.Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the oven for 2.5-3 hours, or until the meat is tender.
