Ingredients

18 slices bread , white or 18 slices rye meal
1 small fennel
9 asparagus , cooked
8 ounces cream cheese
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons dill
1/4 cup capers
8 ounces cream cheese
1 cup sour cream
1 cup spinach leaves
6 shrimp , cooked or 6 ounces smoked salmon , sliced
3 hard-boiled eggs

Instructions

1.In a bowl, mix cream cheese, mayonnaise and dill to make the filling.
2.Spread the filling onto a slice of bread and place it on a cake plate.
3.Cut fennel into thin slices and place on top of the first bread layer, then place another slice of bread on top.
4.Spread the filling and add a layer of spinach leaves, followed by another slice of bread.
5.Add capers and sliced hard-boiled eggs on top of the third bread layer. Sprinkle a bit of dill and cover with another slice of bread.
6.Add shrimp or smoked salmon, and asparagus on top of the fourth bread layer, then spread the filling.
7.Place the last bread layer on top of the cake and spread the remaining cream cheese mixture over and around the sandwich cake.
8.Garnish with shrimp, asparagus and spinach as desired.
