2 heads cabbage
2 cups long grain rice , scalded
2 lbs lean ground beef
1 lb fresh lean pork sausage
2 small onions , minced

2 quarts sauerkraut
2 cans canned tomatoes
4 cups tomato juice

1 lb bacon , cooked
2 lbs sausage , smoked

Instructions

1.Core out the stems from the center of the cabbage.
2.Steam or boil the cabbage leaves to soften.
3.Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
4.Mix together rice, ground beef, pork sausage, minced onions, eggs, water, salt, pepper, paprika, and minced garlic. Stuff 2 rounded tablespoons of meat filling on to one cabbage leaf, fold in sides, and roll up. Repeat until all filling is used up.
5.Place sauerkraut and canned tomatoes in the bottom of a large dutch oven or covered casserole dish. Stir in tomato juice, onion flakes, sugar, salt, pepper, and paprika until well blended. Add the bacon and smoked sausage on top.
6.Place the cabbage rolls on top and continue layering until all cabbage rolls are covered with liquid.
7.Bake, covered, for 2 1/2 hours.
