Ingredients

500 g flour
250 g butter
2 egg yolks
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
10 g cake yeast , dissolved in
warmed milk
2 tablespoons sour cream
1/2 cup cold milk
1 jar apricot preserves or ( 8 ounce ) jar raspberry preserves
200 g ground walnuts
150 g sugar
200 g semisweet chocolate morsels or 200 g baking chocolate
1 tablespoon canola oil or 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
The Hungarian Gerbeaud, also known as Gerbeaud Slice, is a traditional Hungarian dessert named after Emil Gerbeaud, a Swiss pastry chef. It is a layered sweet pastry made with apricot or raspberry preserves, ground walnuts, semisweet chocolate, and buttery dough. The pastry is often topped with melted chocolate, which hardens into a satisfying crunch when cooled. Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl add flour, sugar, salt, butter, egg yolks, 10 g cake yeast( dissolved in warmed milk), and sour cream, mixing until the dough is formed.
2.Roll the dough onto a floured surface until it is 4-5 mm in thickness.
3.Spread the apricot preserves or raspberry preserves on top of the dough.
4.In another mixing bowl combine the ground walnuts, semisweet chocolate, and sugar until the mixture is crumbly.
5.Spread this mixture over the preserves and lightly press it.
6.Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 20-25 minutes.
7.In a separate mixing bowl, melt the semisweet chocolate morsels or baking chocolate with canola or vegetable oil until it is smooth and fully melted.
8.Remove the Gerbeaud from the oven and let it cool. Once cooled, drizzle the melted chocolate on top, and let it harden before serving.
