Ingredients

8 egg yolks
4 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cups Crisco or 1 1/2 cups margarine
1 orange , juice and rind of , grated
1 lemon , juice of
1 pinch salt
1 jar raspberry jam
8 egg whites
1 cup sugar
2 cups ground walnuts
1 lemon , juice and rind of , grated
4 ounces bittersweet chocolate , grated
Hungarian Nut Slices are traditionally enjoyed as a dessert in Hungary and neighboring countries. These slices are a delightful and delicious blend of raspberry jam, citrus, and crunchy walnuts. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2.In a large mixing bowl, cream together the Crisco, sugar, orange rind, lemon juice, orange juice, and egg yolks until creamy.
3.Add flour, baking powder, and salt gradually and mix until dough forms.
4.Divide the dough into two portions and roll out one portion with a rolling pin into a 9x13 inch baking dish and press down with fork to create holes.
5.Spread raspberry jam evenly over the dough.
6.In another mixing bowl, whip egg whites until stiff and add sugar gradually until well mixed.
7.Fold in the grated lemon rind and juice along with ground walnuts into the egg white mixture.
8.Pour this on top of the raspberry jam and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
9.Once cooled, microwave bittersweet chocolate and drizzle over the top of the slices. Allow the chocolate to set before cutting into slices.
