Ingredients

4 ounces self-raising flour , sifted
2 ounces shredded vegetable suet ( I use Atora light )
1 inch piece fresh ginger , peeled and finely grated
1 tablespoon tahini ( sesame seed paste )
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
chinese five-spice seasoning
5 tablespoons water
Ginger and Sesame Dumplings are a delicious Chinese snack that is easy and quick to make at home. These vegetarian steamed dumplings are not only satisfying but also packed with healthy nutrients for the body. Originating from the Guangdong region of China, they have since become popular worldwide. From the soft and fluffy dough to the aromatic ginger and sesame filling, each bite is a flavourful delight. Instructions

1.Sift the flour into a mixing bowl and add the shredded suet, grated ginger, tahini, sesame seeds and five-spice seasoning.
2.Add water a tablespoon at a time to the mixture until you have a soft, sticky dough.
3.Divide the dough into 8 – 10 pieces and roll each piece into a ball the size of a golf ball.
4.Take a shallow bowl and add corn flour.
5.Roll each ball in the corn flour until fully coated.
6.Take a wok or large frying pan and add about 2cm of water, bring to the boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer.
7.Add the dumplings to the simmering water ensuring they are not touching each other. Cover the pan and leave to steam for about 12 minutes.
8.Turn off the heat and leave the dumplings in the covered pan for a further 2 minutes.
9.Remove from the pan and serve hot.
