Ingredients

3 tablespoons sago
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups raisins , halved
1 package glace cherries , quartered ( or a 200gm pack if you love 'em ! )
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups fresh breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons butter , melted
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 dashes cinnamon
chopped mixed peel , a little

Instructions

1.Soak sago in water overnight.
2.Drain water off sago, add milk to pot and bring to boil.
3.Add sago to milk and stir until thickened to a jelly like texture.
4.Halve raisins and quartered glaze cherries. Mix fruit, breadcrumbs, sugar, melted butter, bicarbonate of soda, nutmeg, cinnamon and mixed peel with sago mixture.
5.Steam for 2 1/2 hours in a 2 qt. pudding basin.
6.Serve with cream or custard.
