Ingredients

5 -6 cups all-purpose flour
1 package yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground mace
1/3 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1 1/2 cups hot water
3 eggs , beaten
1/4 cup butter , room temp
1 cup raisins ( or currants )
1/2 cup water
1 egg yolk , beaten
1 tablespoon lemon juice , mixed with
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

1.In a large bowl, mix together 4 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt, mace, and milk powder.
2.Stir in hot water, beaten eggs and butter. Mix well.
3.Add raisins and remaining flour to the dough until it becomes stiff.
4.Knead for 5 to 10 minutes and place it in a greased bowl to let it rise for 1 hour.
5.After rising, punch the dough and shape into 12 pieces.
6.In a baking tray lined with parchment paper, place the pieces of dough and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
7.Preheat oven at 375 F. Brush beaten egg yolk on the dough and bake for 20 minutes.
8.Once done, brush lemon and sugar syrup on the top and let it cool.
