Ingredients

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 red onion , finely chopped
2 sticks celery , finely chopped
3 garlic cloves , crushed
1 red chili pepper , deseeded and finely chopped
1 lb lean ground beef
1 -2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
1/2 cup red wine
1 can chopped tomatoes
1 pinch celery salt
salt and pepper
1 1/3 lbs floury potatoes , such as Yukon gold , peeled and halved ( or quartered , depending on size )
3 1/2 ounces butter
5 tablespoons milk
9 ounces cheddar cheese , shredded
3 ounces gruyere cheese , shredded ( optional )

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375F
2.Heat the olive oil in the pan, then stir in the onion, celery, garlic, and chili. Cook for about 5 minutes until the vegetables have softened.
3.Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Then add Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, red wine, canned chopped tomatoes, celery salt, and salt and pepper. Stir well and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
4.While the beef is simmering, place the potatoes in a large pan of cold water. Bring it to a boil, then cook for 20 minutes until the potatoes are tender. Drain, then add butter and milk, and mash until smooth.
5.Spread the beef mixture into a 9x13-inch oven-safe dish, then spread the mashed potatoes on top. Sprinkle grated cheddar and gruyere cheese on top.
6.Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
