Jugged Steak is a traditional English recipe that has been enjoyed for centuries. This hearty dish is slow-cooked to perfection, making the meat melt-in-the-mouth tender. Originally, the dish was cooked outdoors in a 'jug', which was a closed earthenware pot that was heated with hot water. The dish was then placed outside in the sun to cook for several hours. Today, this recipe has been modernized for convenience, and you can cook it easily without any special equipment. Make this comforting dish for your family and friends, and watch them enjoy every bite.

Instructions

.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
.In a large bowl, mix the steak with flour, salt and pepper, and toss until coated.
.In a large ovenproof casserole dish, layer the sliced onions and the cloves.
.Add the steak on top of the onions.
.Pour in the port and enough beef stock to cover the steak.
.Bring to a simmer on the stove over medium to high heat.
.Cover the casserole dish and place it in the oven. Cook until the meat is tender, about 2 hours.
.While the meat is cooking, mix the sausage meat with breadcrumbs and parsley.
.Roll small balls using the mixture and set aside.
.After 2 hours, remove the casserole dish from the oven. Add the sausage balls to the dish and cook for another 25 minutes.
.Finally, stir in the red currant jelly and serve hot.
