Ingredients

1/2 cup coarsely grated smoked cheddar cheese

2 teaspoons chopped fresh sage
4 boneless chicken breast halves , with skin and tenderloin attached
1/4 cup pure maple syrup

2 tablespoons packed golden brown sugar

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 large granny smith apple , halved , cored , cut into matchstick-size strips ( about 2 1/2 cups )
1/4 cup sliced red onion , paper-thin slices
2 green onions , chopped

This mouthwatering recipe combines the smoky flavors of cheddar with the tangy crunch of green apple slaw. Instructions

1.In a small bowl, whisk together grated smoked cheddar cheese, 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup, room temperature cream cheese, and 2 teaspoons chopped fresh sage.
2.Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
3.Cut pockets into each chicken breast and stuff with the cheese mixture.
4.Brush the chicken with olive oil, season with salt and pepper then grill until cooked through.
5.In a saucepan combine 1/4 cup of pure maple syrup, 1/4 cup of Scotch whisky, golden brown sugar, unsalted butter, lemon juice, and sage. Cook over low heat for 4-5 minutes.
6.In a bowl mix granny smith apple strips, red onion, green onions, maple syrup, and whisky. Let it sit for a while.
7.Serve the chicken with the green apple slaw. Enjoy!
