Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan) or gas mark 4. Grease and line a square baking tin with baking paper.

3.Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared tin and bake for 20-25 minutes or until light golden brown.

5.Pour the caramel over the base and spread it out evenly. Allow it to cool completely so that the caramel hardens.
6.Break the chocolate into pieces and melt it with the butter in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan with simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth. Pour it over the hardened caramel and let it set completely.
7.Once the chocolate has hardened, remove the shortcake from the tin and cut it into squares.
