Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C)
2.Grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) loaf pan
3.In a bowl, mix the sugar, white flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, dried apricots, dried prunes, and salt
4.In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sour cream, melted butter, almonds, lemon rind, and vanilla
5.Gently stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, until just combined
6.Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan
7.Optional: garnish the top with candied fruit
8.Bake for 75-80 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
9.Allow the bread to cool for 10 minutes in the pan, before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely
