Ingredients

1 lb granny smith apple
1/4 cup granulated sugar
4 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 lemon , zest of , finely grated
1 lb puff pastry
3 tablespoons marmalade
1/4 cup milk ( for brushing )
This Apple Flory is a traditional Scottish dessert made with granny smith apples cooked in cinnamon and sugar and baked on top of a buttery puff pastry. The combination of the sweet and tangy apples with the crisp and flaky puff pastry creates a mouth-watering dessert that is perfect for any occasion. While it may not be the healthiest dessert option due to its high sugar and calorie content, it is definitely worth indulging in every now and then to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Instructions

1.Peel the apples, remove the cores and slice very thinly.
2.In a saucepan, place the apple slices with the sugar, water, cinnamon and lemon zest and cook over low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are caramelised and soft. Set aside and let it cool.
3.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
4.Roll the puff pastry out quite thinly, lightly prick it with a fork and put it on a greased baking sheet.
5.Brush a layer of marmalade over the pastry, then spoon the apple mixture on top.
6.Brush the edges with milk and fold these up and over the apple mixture at the edge of the pastry.
7.Brush all over the top with milk and bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
8.Serve warm.
