1 cup butter , softened ( no substitutions ) | |
1/2 cup icing sugar ( confectioners ) | |
2 cups all-purpose flour | |
1/4 teaspoon baking powder | |
1/4 teaspoon salt | |
additional icing sugar , for dusting |
1. | Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). |
2. | Grease a 9x9-inch square baking pan. |
3. | In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and icing sugar together until light and fluffy. |
4. | In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. |
5. | Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture until well combined. |
6. | Press the dough into the prepared pan and prick all over with a fork. |
7. | Bake for 30-35 minutes or until lightly golden brown. |
8. | Allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before cutting into bars. |
9. | Dust with additional icing sugar before serving. |
