1 cup confectioners ' sugar | |
1 lb salted butter , softened | |
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour | |
caster sugar , for sprinkling ( optional ) | |
1/4 teaspoon crushed edible lavender flowers ( fresh or dried ) ( optional ) |
1. | Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) |
2. | In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy |
3. | Gradually mix in the flour until the dough comes together |
4. | Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness |
5. | Cut the dough into shapes using a cookie cutter |
6. | Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper |
7. | If desired, sprinkle with caster sugar and crushed lavender flowers |
8. | Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges are lightly golden |
9. | Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely |
