1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 teaspoons shortening
1 cup chopped pecans
6 dozen pecan halves

Instructions

1.In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, and almond extract until creamy and smooth
2.Add flour and salt, mix until well combined
3.Divide dough into 4 portions and shape each portion into a disk
4.On a lightly floured surface, roll out each disk to 1/4-inch thickness
5.Cut out cookies using a turtle-shaped cookie cutter and place on parchment paper-lined baking sheets
6.Bake at 350°F for 12-14 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges
7.Cool cookies on wire racks
8.Melt caramels in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth
9.Spoon melted caramel over each cookie and spread with a spoon
10.Melt chocolate chips with shortening in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth
11.Drizzle melted chocolate over caramel layer
12.Sprinkle chopped pecans over chocolate layer and top with a pecan half
13.Let set at room temperature until caramel and chocolate harden
14.Serve and enjoy!
