Ingredients

2 -3 slices back bacon , per person
2 slices of farmhouse bread , 1cm to 2cm thick , per person , OR
1 crusty roll , per person
butter ( optional )
HP steak sauce ( optional )
Worcestershire sauce ( optional )
The Great British Bacon Butty, or bacon sandwich, is a classic comfort food enjoyed throughout the UK, especially as a breakfast item or snack. The sandwich features crispy back bacon sandwiched between two slices of thick, hearty farmhouse bread or a crusty roll. It can be enjoyed plain, or with optional additions of butter, HP steak sauce, or Worcestershire sauce.

Instructions

1.Preheat the grill on high heat.
2.Place bacon on a grill rack and grill for 5-7 minutes until crispy.
3.While bacon is cooking, toast the bread or roll.
4.Once bacon is done, remove from grill and place on paper towels to absorb excess grease.
5.Optional: spread butter on the toasted bread or roll.
6.Optional: add a few dashes of HP steak sauce or Worcestershire sauce to the bacon.
7.Assemble the sandwich by placing the bacon between two slices of bread or roll.
8.Serve and enjoy!

Though not particularly healthy, bacon does contain protein and some B vitamins. The use of whole grain bread can provide some fiber.
