Ingredients

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons margarine
2 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon instant coffee
1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
1/4 teaspoon instant coffee
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Our Coffee-Nut Scones are highly addictive, with a perfect blend of coffee and hazelnuts in every bite. They are a great way to start your day with a burst of energy and goodness. Scones are popular in Great Britain and Ireland and are a favorite breakfast pastry in the United States. These scones are sweet, buttery, and nutty with a hint of coffee flavor that will leave you craving for more.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
2.In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt
3.Cut in butter or margarine until mixture looks like coarse crumbs
4.In a separate bowl, beat eggs, milk and 1 tablespoon instant coffee
5.Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until just moist. Fold in hazelnuts.
6.On a lightly floured surface, knead scone dough 5 times. Pat into a circle and cut into wedges.
7.Place wedges onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
8.While scones bake, in a small bowl dissolve 1/4 teaspoon instant coffee in 1 tablespoon of water. Add powder sugar to make glaze. Remove scones from oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Brush glaze onto scones. Scones can be served warm or at room temperature!
