3 potatoes , scrubbed
1 package uncooked elbow macaroni
2 tablespoons butter
2 large onions , peeled and sliced
1 clove garlic , minced
1/2 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
3/4 cup heavy cream
salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.Cut the potatoes into thin slices, and cook them in boiling salted water until tender.
3.Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water until al dente.
4.Melt the butter in a sauté pan. Add the onions and garlic and sauté until tender.
5.Drain the macaroni and potatoes and combine with the onions.
6.Add the cheese and cream and mix well.
7.Season with salt and pepper.
8.Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
