Ingredients

2 cups milk , divided
1 package dry yeast
4 cups flour , divided
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 lemon rind , grated
3 eggs , beaten
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons chopped almonds
2 tablespoons firm butter
Danish yeast coffee cake, also known as Kaffekage, is a classic Danish dessert that is usually served with coffee or tea. This delicious and sweet cake is perfect for any occasion and will definitely impress your guests. The combination of the fluffy dough, cinnamon, and almond topping make for the perfect bite. Instructions

1.Warm 1 1/2 cups of milk and sprinkle yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5 minutes.
2.In a separate bowl, mix 3 cups of flour, melted butter, sugar, grated lemon rind, and eggs.
3.Slowly pour the milk and yeast mixture into the bowl and mix until smooth.
4.Cover with a damp dish towel and let it rise for about an hour.
5.Mix the remaining 1/2 cup of flour, cinnamon, chopped almonds, and firm butter together.
6.Roll out the dough and spread the cinnamon and almond mixture onto it.
7.Roll up the dough and place into a greased cake pan.
8.Cover and let it rise for another 15-30 minutes.
9.Preheat oven to 350°F and bake cake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
10.Let it cool before serving.
