Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs raw extra lean ground beef
1 can tomato sauce
1 can water
1 medium onion , chopped
1 can tomato soup
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup golden raisin
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons citric acid or 2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 large peeled apple , sliced
4 ginger snaps ( cookies )
4 -5 medium green bell peppers , slice top off and seed and clean , reserving the tops

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F.
2.Brown ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium heat.
3.Add tomato sauce, water, tomato soup, salt, golden raisins, brown sugar, citric acid, apple, and ginger snaps. Mix well.
4.Stuff the bell peppers with the mixture and replace the tops of the peppers. Alternatively, roll the mixture in cabbage leaves.
5.Place the stuffed peppers (or cabbage rolls) in a baking dish. Pour the remaining sauce over the top.
6.Bake for 1 hour, or until the peppers (or cabbage) are tender.
