Ingredients

1 large cabbage
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1 cup cooked white rice
2 large yellow onions , minced
4 tablespoons dill , and or parsley
1/4 teaspoon black pepper , salt and garlic powder
1/2 cup sour cream
4 -6 bay leaves
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 can crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup olive oil
4 cups saved cabbage cooking liquid
Golubtsy Stuffed Cabbages, also known as stuffed cabbage rolls, have been a staple in Eastern European cuisine for centuries. This hearty and delicious meal is perfect for cold winter nights and can be enjoyed as a main course for lunch or dinner. The dish consists of tender cabbage leaves wrapped around a flavorful mixture of ground beef and pork, as well as rice, onions, and herbs. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2.Prepare the cabbage by removing the core and boiling it for 5-7 minutes in a large pot of water. Remove and allow to cool.
3.In a large bowl, mix together the beef, pork, rice, onions, dill, black pepper, salt, and garlic powder.
4.Take a cooled cabbage leaf and add a generous scoop of the meat mixture to the center. Fold in the sides and roll up tightly. Repeat with remaining cabbage leaves and meat mixture.
5.In a separate bowl, mix together the sour cream, tomato paste, and crushed tomatoes.
6.Spread half of the tomato mixture onto the bottom of a large oven-safe dish. Place the rolled up cabbage leaves on top of the sauce and cover with the remaining sauce.
7.Add bay leaves on top, drizzle with olive oil, and pour in the saved cabbage cooking liquid.
8.Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1 hour 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
