1 bottle red wine ( such as Cabernet Sauvignon , Beaujolais , or Burgundy )
2 cups apple juice
3 tablespoons honey
3 cinnamon sticks
10 pods cardamom pods
8 whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon anise seed

Instructions

1.In a medium-sized pot, combine the wine, apple juice, honey, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, cloves, and anise seed.
2.Place over medium heat and slowly bring to a simmer.
3.Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it cook for at least 30 minutes and up to an hour, stirring occasionally.
4.Strain out the spices and serve the mulled wine hot in mugs.
