Beef fillet scaloppine is a classic Italian dish that is traditionally made with veal. In this recipe, we use steak fillets instead, which are cut thinly and cooked in a red wine and cream sauce. The dish is elegant and sophisticated while also being delicious and satisfying. The mushrooms in the sauce add a nice texture and earthy flavor that complements the beef. The dish can be served with a side of vegetables or a starch like potatoes or pasta.

Instructions

1.Cut the steak fillets into thin slices, about half a centimeter thick.
2.Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
3.Add the beef slices to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they are browned to your liking. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
4.In the same skillet, pour in the red wine and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for a minute or two.
5.Add the cans of mushrooms to the skillet and stir to combine with the wine. Let cook for about 2 minutes.
6.Pour in the cream and stir to combine. Simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
7.Add the beef slices back into the skillet and let cook for another minute or two, or until the meat is heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
