Ingredients

2 lbs stewing beef
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups water
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 garlic clove , peeled
1 -2 bay leaf
1 medium onion , sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 dash ground allspice or 1 dash ground cloves
3 large carrots , sliced
3 celery ribs , chopped
2 tablespoons cornstarch

The stew is made with tender stewing beef, sliced carrots, chopped celery and a rich beef broth flavored with garlic, bay leaf, Worcestershire sauce, and a blend of seasonings. Instructions

1.Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large pot.
2.Once hot, brown the stewing beef.
3.Add in 2 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 garlic clove, 1-2 bay leaf, 1 sliced medium onion, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of paprika and a dash of ground allspice or cloves. Stir to combine.
4.Simmer the stew on low heat for 1 1/2 hours.
5.Add 3 sliced carrots and 3 chopped celery ribs. Continue to simmer for 30 minutes.
6.In a separate bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of cold water. Slowly pour the mixture into the stew and stir until combined.
7.Simmer the stew for another 10 minutes.
8.Remove the bay leaves and garlic clove. Serve hot.
