Ingredients

6 tablespoons oil
16 -20 large fresh basil leaves
10 ounces ground beef
2 tablespoons Thai fish sauce
1 teaspoon dark brown sugar
1 -2 fresh red chile , sliced into rings
3 garlic cloves , chopped
1 teaspoon chopped fresh gingerroot
1 shallot , thinly sliced
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil leaves
lemon juice
salt & fresh ground pepper

Beef With Basil (Phad Kraproa) is a classic Thai dish that is popular in many parts of Southeast Asia. The dish has a perfect blend of flavors with the spices, the savory beef, and the aromatic basil leaves. Instructions

1.Rinse the jasmine rice in cold water and strain.
2.Cook the rice in a pot with 1 1/2 cups of water, cover and bring to a boil.
3.Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 18-20 minutes.
4.In a wok or a large frying pan, add 3 tbsp of oil and heat on medium-high.
5.Add the garlic, ginger, and sliced shallots and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
6.Add the ground beef and cook for 5-6 minutes until browned.
7.Add the fish sauce, dark brown sugar, and sliced red chilies and stir.
8.Add the fresh basil leaves and toss the ingredients together.
9.Season with salt, pepper, and a splash of lemon juice.
10.Serve hot with a side of jasmine rice.
