Ingredients

1 1/2 cups softened butter
4 egg yolks ( reserve the whites for the meringue )
4 cups flour
1/2 cup milk ( slightly warmed )
1/4 ounce dry yeast
3 cups ground walnuts
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cans apricot filling ( I use Solo brand )
4 egg whites ( reserved from above )
1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F.

9.Spread 1 can of apricot filling on top of the first layer of dough.
10.Sprinkle the nut mixture on top of the apricot filling.
11.Repeat the layering process with the remaining layers of dough, apricot filling, and nut mixture.
12.In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
13.Gradually add in the granulated sugar and continue to beat until the mixture is glossy and holds stiff peaks.
14.Spread the meringue on top of the layered cake, making decorative swirls with a spatula.
15.Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the meringue is golden brown.
16.Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing and serving.
