Ingredients

1 beef roast
1 packet au jus mix ( 1 dry packet )
1 can chicken broth ( 1 can )
3 1/2 - 4 1/2 cups water
1 McCormick grill seasoning ( actually McCORMICK ZESTY HERB PACKET- this site did not recognize ! ( 1 dry packet )
1 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 onions ( sliced vertically )
1 dash onion soup mix ( dash of 1 packet )
1 can diced tomatoes ( 1 can )
This recipe for Excellent Crock Pot Beef is the ultimate comfort food - deliciously tender and flavorful with a hearty au jus and herb gravy that's perfect for sopping up with a piece of crusty bread. Not only is this dish incredibly tasty, but it's also really easy to prepare. It takes only a few minutes to put together in the morning, then the slow cooker does all the work while you're out and about. Come dinnertime, you'll have a satisfying and hearty meal to come home to.

Instructions

1.Season the beef roast with McCormick grill seasoning and place it in the crock pot.
2.In a bowl, mix together the au jus mix, chicken broth and 3 1/2 cups of water. Pour the mixture over the beef roast.
3.Add the sliced onions, onion soup mix and can of diced tomatoes to the crock pot.
4.Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the beef is tender and cooked through.
5.Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the crock pot, and strain the liquid into a saucepan. Add additional water if the gravy is too thick.
6.Mix the extra virgin olive oil with the McCormick zesty herb packet, and brush the mixture onto the beef.
7.Place the beef back in the crock pot and pour the strained gravy over the top. Cook on high for an additional 30 minutes to an hour until heated through and the flavors have melded together.

PROS

Slow cooking allows the beef to become incredibly tender and flavorful.
The herb and au jus gravy add an extra burst of flavor that will have your taste buds dancing.

CONS

While this recipe is simple to make, it does require planning ahead for the long cooking time.
Additionally, the dish is relatively high in sodium.
