Ingredients

1/2 cup olive oil
4 tablespoons water
4 tablespoons orange juice
1 lemon , juiced
6 tablespoons white sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup confectioners ' sugar for decoration
1/2 teaspoon orange flower water
1 cup ground walnuts
1 cup ground almonds
1 cup sesame seeds
1 cup honey
Kritika Patoutia, also known as Cretan Deep Fried Pastry, are a traditional dessert from Crete, Greece. They are made with a dough that is mixed with olive oil, orange juice and lemon juice, which makes them very aromatic and flavorful. The dough is then covered with a nut mixture made of ground walnuts, almonds and sesame seeds, and baked in the oven. After they are baked, they are drizzled with honey and orange flower water. Kritika Patoutia are a delicious treat that can be enjoyed with a cup of coffee or tea, and are perfect for dessert after a big meal.

Instructions

1.Add olive oil, white sugar, orange juice, water and lemon juice in a bowl and stir with a spoon.
2.In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda and salt.
3.Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and mix well with your hands to create a dough.
4.In a separate bowl, mix ground walnuts, ground almonds and sesame seeds.
5.Make small balls from the dough, flatten them and cover them with the nut mixture.
6.Place them on a baking tray.
7.Bake in a preheated 180C/350F oven for around 30 minutes or until they are golden brown.
8.Remove from the oven and let them cool for 10 minutes before adding honey and orange flower water on top.
9.Serve and enjoy!
