Swedish Nutballs are a classic dessert that are popular during the holidays in Sweden. In the US, they're often enjoyed during the winter months as well. They're a simple dessert to make, only requiring a few key ingredients and a little bit of time in the oven. The nutty flavor of the walnuts pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the powdered sugar. They're a great dessert to make when you need to whip something up quickly for a party or as a Friday treat for yourself.

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.In a large bowl, mix together the flour, butter, 5 Tbsp confectioners' sugar, and chopped walnuts, using your hands to form a dough. Shape the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
3.Place the balls onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and bake for 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
4.While the nutballs are cooling, add the 6 cups of confectioners' sugar to a shallow dish.
5.When the nutballs are completely cooled, roll them in the confectioners' sugar, making sure they are well coated. Serve and enjoy!

PROS

Swedish Nutballs are the perfect sweet treat for any occasion – they’re bite-sized, flavorful, and coated in sweet powdered sugar.

CONS

Nutballs are high in calories and sugar.
They’re a delicious treat, but should be enjoyed in moderation.

HEALTH & BENEFITS

While Swedish Nutballs are not necessarily a health food, nuts (like walnuts) are known to be a good source of healthy fats and protein. Walnuts specifically are also a good source of antioxidants that help prevent oxidative damage in the body. That being said, these nutballs are still a dessert and should be enjoyed as such.
