2 large onions , cut into 1/4 inch wide strips
14 fillets Swedish anchovies , or regular anchovies
6 potatoes , peeled and cut into strips
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
2 tablespoons dry bread crumbs
1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.Grease a 9-inch (23cm) baking dish or casserole with butter.
3.Arrange a layer of onions in the bottom of the dish.
4.Arrange a layer of potatoes on top of the onions, followed by a layer of anchovies.
5.Repeat the layering until all the ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of potatoes.
6.Slowly pour the heavy cream over the top of the dish, making sure to cover all the potatoes.
7.Sprinkle the bread crumbs over the top of the dish.
8.Drizzle the melted butter over the bread crumbs.
9.Bake for 1 hour, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
10.Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
