Ingredients

2 packages active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 cup milk , warm
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter or 1 cup Crisco , melted
1 teaspoon salt
6 eggs , beaten
6 cups flour ( may need up to 8 cups )
1 can solo almond filling ( Substitute Danish - Almond Filling , marzipan or the jam of your choice if you ca n't find the Solo Almond Filli )
2 dried beans ( for the babies )
colored sugar sprinkle ( optional ) or candied fruit ( optional )
3 cups powdered sugar
6 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons vanilla

Instructions

1.In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water.
2.Add in the warm milk, sugar, melted butter or Crisco, salt, beaten eggs, and 6 cups of flour.
3.Mix until smooth and add more flour if needed to make the dough soft.
4.Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.
5.Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
6.Roll the dough into two long strips and twist them around each other to form a ring.
7.Place the ring on a greased baking sheet and let rise again until doubled in size.
8.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
9.Bake the cake for 30-35 minutes.
10.While the cake is baking, cream together the powdered sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla to make the icing.
11.Once the cake is done, let it cool and then spread the icing on top.
12.Decorate with colored sugar sprinkle or candied fruit, and insert the dried beans into the cake.
13.Serve and enjoy!
