Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

2 cups lard
1 cup cold water

1 onion , finely diced
5 carrots , diced ( optional )
2 rutabagas , diced
1 pound lean ground beef
1 pound ground pork
10 green onions , chopped
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2.In a large bowl, mix flour and salt together. Rub in lard until mixture is crumbly. Add cold water and mix until dough comes together.
3.In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add onion, carrots, rutabagas, ground beef, ground pork, and green onions. Cook until meat is browned and vegetables are tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4.Roll out dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 1/8 inch. Cut into rounds.
5.Place a spoonful of meat mixture on half of each round. Dot meat with butter. Fold other half of dough over meat; pinch edges together to seal. Brush with milk.
6.Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes.
