Ingredients

6 pieces fish fillets ( grouper or any white fish )
18 ounces achiote paste ( recipe immediately following )
2 whole white onions , sliced
2 whole green peppers , sliced
3 tomatoes , sliced
6 sprigs epazote
6 banana leaves
Tikin Xic, also known as Pescado Tikin Xic, is a traditional Yucatan dish that originated from the Mayan people. Instructions

1.Make achiote paste by mixing achiote, ground cinnamon, allspice, black pepper, cloves, and garlic cloves in a blender.
2.Wash banana leaves and pat them dry.
3.Marinate the fish fillets in achiote paste for at least 1 hour.
4.Place a piece of banana leaf in a baking dish and lay the fish fillet on top, then top with sliced onion, green pepper, tomato, and epazote.
5.Cover the fish with another banana leaf, then with foil.
6.Preheat the oven to 400°F and bake for 20 to 30 minutes.
7.Serve hot with fresh lime juice and tortillas.
